The 2024 Future of Catawba County Summit, Presented by Truist, was held at the
newly renovated Hickory Metro Convention Center. At this half-day summit top business and community leaders gathered to discuss
the key issues and opportunities shaping Catawba County's future. This year's event focused on the economy, education, talent

Funded largely by a $17 million BUILD grant from the United States Department of Transportation,
the Aviation Walk creates another critical link between several notable Hickory destinations. As part of the larger Hickory Trail multiuse
path system, the Aviation Walk provides bicycling and pedestrian connectivity from Old Lenoir Road and the future OLLE Art Walk,
across U.S. 321 via a steel pedestrian bridge, past L.P. Frans Stadium and Winkler Park, up to the Hickory Regional Airport.
“We’re excited to expand the Hickory Trail with the upcoming opening of the Aviation Walk,” said Mayor Hank Guess.
“Many people have been wanting to cross the new pedestrian bridge over U.S. 321 and see the structure’s Hickory

Safe Harbor is celebrating 20 years of service! We're celebrating two decades of healing hearts; empowering
recovery and embracing hope through the love of Christ. Safe Harbor of NC is a faith-based 501(c)3 organization founded in 2004.
Safe Harbor offers a Christ centered community for women to rebuild, renew and recover. This is done through the accredited Whole Woman program,
a 12 month residential recovery program and is at no cost to the participants. The Greenleaf transitional, accredited housing
program provides a recovery community of low-cost, furnished apartments for women and children. The Community Center provides a safe
environment for women and children experiencing homelessness during the day and the Passage, a transitional program for women who
have been chronically homeless and cannot move forward without wrap around support.

Ashure Ministry, formerly Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry (ECCCM), was formed
in 1969 to help individuals and families facing a crisis situation. Ashure Ministry offers financial crisis assistance, clothing & household assistance
to anyone living in Catawba County. In August 2023, all services offered by Ashure Ministry were expanded to cover anyone living in Catawba County.
Through the expansion of services came a name change and an increased need for freezer and cooler storage space, both completed in 2024.
Ashure Ministry provided 59,289 face-to-face service based interactions in 2023 helping 4,353 households with 9,957 individuals.
The Charlie Bunn Food Pantry distributed 2.5 million pounds of food in 2023. This work could not be completed without the help of our volunteers.

The Riverwalk showcases one of Hickory’s most beautiful, natural assets, the Catawba River. The Riverwalk provides public access to Lake Hickory with an overwater bridge and a combination of waterfront and wooded trails, offering visitors a variety of scenery and multiple vantage points to admire the beauty of the lake and the surrounding natural environments. The Riverwalk connects existing and future amenities in the area, including the paved Geitner Trail greenway and Boy Scout Cabin at Rotary-Geitner Park, mountain bike paths called the Lake Hickory Trails, the future Deidra Lackey Memorial Park, the future OLLE Art Walk and the future pedestrian bridge across Lake Hickory to Caldwell County. Through a public/private partnership with the City of Hickory, the Robert Lackey family plans to renovate Rotary-Geitner Park to create the Deidra Lackey Memorial Park, featuring a Lake House for events, conservatory, gardens, trails, a picnic shelter/restroom facility, canoe/kayak launch, boat slips for visitors from the water, and a new fishing pier.

This event will mark the official start of construction for the OLLE Art Walk and will recognize project partners, supporters, and stakeholders of this important project. The OLLE Art Walk trail will run approximately 2.4 miles along Ninth Street NW and Old Lenoir Road to create a critical link between the City Walk, Riverwalk, and Aviation Walk segments of the Hickory Trail. Once a major thoroughfare into and out of the central business district of Hickory, Old Lenoir Road is now home to funky retail boutiques, a budding arts district, and a variety of businesses. This new section of trail is named after the OLLE Arts District, which derives its name from the first two letters of "Old" and "Lenoir" from the road name, Old Lenoir Road. The Hickory City Council approved a $22,714,090.80 construction contract with Neill Grading and Construction Company, Inc. for the OLLE Art Walk. The project is anticipated to take approximately 24 months to complete. A groundbreaking ceremony for the OLLE Art Walk will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday at 1079 Third Avenue Drive NW along Old Lenoir Road.

The Italian Dinner and Auction is an annual event that is held each year to help raise funds
to support Catawba Science Center. An evening of dancing, dining, live and silent auctions, games, and more!
The Italian Dinner is a night of fun you don't want to miss. First held in 1986, the Italian Dinner is CSC's
largest fundraiser throughout the year and is successful due in part to the generous donations of auction items
